Meet the CEO and founder of 44th Avenue Candles, Sharonda Shaw-Brown.
Sharonda grew up on 44th Avenue South in the south end of Seattle, WA. During her thirty plus years of residence on this street, her fascination with candles began to develop. From the day her parents brought her home from the hospital right up until the day she moved to California to live with her husband, 44th Avenue South was her home. She says,
"Moving over 1,000 miles away from everything I knew and loved was not easy but it was a necessary part of growing up."
Since the move, Sharonda has realized the importance of having a place to call home. Not just a residence but a foundation. A place that feels safe and inviting. A place where you are always welcome, no matter how far or how long you've been gone.
This realization, coupled with her love for the art of candle making, was the inspiration for 44th Avenue Candles. We believe that everyone needs a place to feel safe and welcomed and that everyone needs a place to call home. That's why all 44th Avenue candles are handcrafted, hand-poured with love, care and prayer. Our fragrances have a slight amount of familiarity with a pop of mystery to keep it interesting.
